The Collection of Musical Art and Ethnomusicology is the youngest collection at the Museum of Sarajevo. Considering the number of existing musical items already in the museum's fund, as well as their cultural and artistic potential, administration of the Museum of Sarajevo decided to establish this collection in 2024. The curator responsible for management of this collection collects, studies, processes, and exhibits items related to musical art and ethnomusicology. Additionally, they research folk songs, original melodies, lyrical and epic ballads, and other intangible heritage of the peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina.<\/p>\n

Besides the above said, one of the main segments aimed at enriching this collection involves field research of ethno musicological heritage, recording, presenting, processing, and interpreting it within a scientific framework. Special emphasis is placed on studying the roots, valuing the melodic and textual matrices, and the authenticity of the sevdalinka. As evidence that the Museum of Sarajevo has long preserved the musical heritage of Sarajevo as the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is noteworthy that this institution is the author of the first permanent exhibition of the Art House of Sevdah. This exhibition includes not only the biographies of sevdalinka authors and performers but also musical instruments from the museum's fund.<\/p>\n

Currently, Collection Of Musical Art and Ethnomusicology<\/strong> includes musical items classified into keyboard instruments, string instruments, plucked instruments, wind instruments, and percussion instruments. Among the artefacts in this collection are exhibits that belonged to one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's most significant composers, Asim Horozi\u0107. These can be categorized into personal items, original compositions (\"Hasanaginica,\" \"Aska i vuk\/Aska and the Wolf,\" \"Zmaj od Bosne\/The Dragon of Bosnia\"), and professional works. The long-term goal of this collection is to significantly expand it through purchases funded by the Museum of Sarajevo and personal donations from the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The aim is to representatively showcase the musical heritage and cultural specifics of musical culture of the capital city of the BiH.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n
