The collection of auxiliary objects is one of those quiet yet indispensable parts of museum displays \u2013 one that helps us not only to see, but also to understand the past. Models, maps, replicas of objects, facsimiles of documents, plans and charts make this collection a living tool of museum interpretation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More than 200 exhibits are preserved in the holdings of the Museum of Sarajevo, enriching both permanent and temporary exhibitions. Of particular value are the models, among which the monumental and exceptionally important model of the old Ba\u0161\u010dar\u0161ija from 1878, completed in 1953, stands out. This impressive model was created by the renowned model maker Husein Kari\u0161ik and his collaborators, based on historiographic research by Prof. Hamdija Kre\u0161evljakovi\u0107 and the architectural design of Eng. Juraj Neidhardt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The collection also includes models of Gazi Husrev-beg\u2019s Mosque, Mi\u0161\u0107ina Mahala and shops in Ba\u0161\u010dar\u0161ija \u2013 precious witnesses to Sarajevo\u2019s architecture, urban development and culture of everyday life. In addition, the collection preserves valuable views of Mecca and Medina, painted by Jusuf Za\u010dirovi\u0107 after the original work of Mustafa Faginovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We are especially pleased to announce that the display at Svrzo\u2019s House will soon be enriched with a dedicated exhibition space focused exclusively on models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through a carefully designed presentation, visitors will have the opportunity to experience Sarajevo and its architecture from a different, almost bird\u2019s-eye perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
