The Public Institution Museum of Sarajevo continues its series of public lectures dedicated to the rich cultural and historical heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina, within the programme \u201cOur Heritage\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This time, we invite you to attend the lecture:\n\u201cPavlovac \u2013 Medieval Tombstones and the Question of the Burial of Prince Pavle Radenovi\u0107\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ste\u0107ci, as unique monuments of medieval Bosnia, bear witness to the social, economic, and cultural circumstances of their time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the Pavlovac site, there was a significant necropolis with ste\u0107ci, where archaeological research revealed a unique burial practice in stone and wooden sarcophagi. The history of this necropolis\u2014from its relocation in 1980 to its return to the original site in 2019\u2014also raises important questions about the protection and presentation of cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Special attention is drawn to the tradition surrounding the largest ste\u0107ak, believed to mark the grave of the medieval Bosnian prince Pavle Radenovi\u0107, although historical sources offer differing interpretations of his burial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
