The exhibition \u201cThe Sarajevo Assassination \u2013 112 Years Later\u201d is the result of institutional cooperation between the International Burch University, the Sarajevo Museum, and the Sarajevo VRX Museum. Students of the Faculty of Education and Humanities, Department of Graphic Design and Multimedia, were tasked with creating the official poster and visual identity for the annual commemoration of the assassination of the Austro-Hungarian heir presumptive Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie, carried out in Sarajevo on 28 June 1914 by Gavrilo Princip.<\/p>\n

The Sarajevo Assassination is a historical event that served as the immediate catalyst for the outbreak of the First World War. The aim of the project was to develop a conceptually strong and visually compelling poster capable of communicating the significance of this event in a contemporary manner. Students were challenged to transform complex historical narratives into clear and effective visual communication through the use of typography, composition, symbolism, and conceptual thinking as key elements of design expression.<\/p>\n

An expert jury, composed of representatives of the partner institutions, selected from fifteen shortlisted posters presented in this exhibition as part of the official commemoration of the anniversary of the Sarajevo Assassination.<\/p>\n

The students approached the assignment with professionalism, engaging in a rigorous process of research, conceptual development, and execution. All submitted works successfully responded to the project brief, demonstrating originality and conceptual strength, quality of visual communication, thoughtful use of typography and composition, historical interpretation and sensitivity, as well as a high standard of technical execution and presentation. Through their distinctive solutions, the students displayed an impressive level of creative thinking and graphic design culture.<\/p>\n

The project participants were: Ajdin Maksi\u0107, Alen Cetin, Amel D\u017eananovi\u0107, Amina Spahi\u0107, Benjamin Huji\u0107, Dino Nikoli\u0107, Eman Rov\u010danin, Evelina Kajtazovi\u0107, Halima I\u0161eri\u0107, Hana Isakovi\u0107, Lamia \u0160a\u0161ivarevi\u0107, Merjem Vi\u0161\u0107a, Ned\u017eada Hod\u017ei\u0107-Sipovi\u0107, Rijad Fejzagi\u0107, and Sara Perla.<\/p>\n

The design solution created by Merjem Vi\u0161\u0107a was selected as the official visual identity for the 2026 commemoration of the Sarajevo Assassination, having been recognized by the expert jury as the most successful interpretation of a historical theme through a contemporary graphic expression.<\/p>\n

The exhibition will open on Saturday, 27th June at 13:00.<\/p>\n
