A significant portion of the museum’s collections is thanks to the cultural awareness of our citizens, who, recognizing the value of their heritage for the collective good, donated various objects including old furniture, jewelry, documents, manuscripts, clothing, handcrafts, photographs, artwork, books, certificates and diplomas, letters, souvenirs from distant travels, postage stamps, postcards, and other items, enriching and diversifying our collection. These items were systematized and classified into collections based on their composition, while certain intact legacies were preserved in the Legacy Collection, established in 2019. This collection preserves the family heritage of prominent Sarajevo families of various professions, including chefs, athletes, professors, humanitarian workers, doctors, embroiderers, politicians, actors, ballerinas, painters, and others. Today, the collection includes more than 300 items.
The Legacy Collection is managed by senior curator mr. Indira Kučuk-Sorguč.
