A METHODOLOGICAL APPROACH TO THE PROTECTION AND PRESERVATION OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL REMAINS IN URBAN AREAS
Abstract
Along with the development of the idea of protecting and preserving the cultural heritage, so too there evolved the need to use or present it, whether as surviving properties or as archaeological remains - meaning, primarily, the preservation of remains in situ, as museum exhibits. ln the past the approach to the archaeological remains of important buildings, or ruins, was more romantic than practical and scholarly.
