Today, the Sarajevo Museum was visited by the members of the SDP BiH Caucus in the Sarajevo Canton Assembly – Jelena Pekić, Belma Kapo and Samir Avdić.
During the visit, they expressed great interest in the Museum’s programmes, museological activities, and the current needs of the Sarajevo Museum. They emphasized the importance of our institution within the cultural, tourist, economic and social landscape of Canton Sarajevo, and expressed their satisfaction with the visible progress the Museum has achieved in recent years.
As a token of appreciation, they were presented with the Museum’s monograph, which offers a thorough and aesthetically refined overview of the institution’s 75 years of work. They emphasized both its artistic and documentary value as an example of a high-quality publication representing the Museum itself.
After the meeting at the Museum Directorate with Director Indira Kučuk-Sorguč and Museum Advisor Moamer Šehović, the representatives toured the Svrzo House – a jewel of Bosnian residential culture. They emphasized the importance of its intangible component, the traditions and customs preserved and revived within this space, especially the sevdalinka. They also recalled the exceptional sevdah concerts by Damir Imamović, which transformed the courtyard of Svrzo House into an unforgettable cultural experience for both local visitors and tourists during summer evenings.
The Sarajevo Museum remains open to all elected representatives and institutions who contribute to advancing the cultural life of our city. We believe it is essential for them to experience first-hand the Museum’s mission as a conscientious guardian of our cultural and historical identity, as well as the work of professionals and experts who diligently preserve, study, publish and present the vast heritage entrusted to us.
We thank representatives Kapo, Pekić and Avdić for their visit, their expressed interest, and their willingness to learn more about our achievements, as well as the challenges we face.
