The Federal Minister of Environment and Tourism, Nasiha Pozder visited the Museum of Sarajevo today,where she was hosted by its director, Indira Kučuk SorgučDuring the meeting, current topics and opportunities for cooperation were discussed, with a focus on the importance of museum activities for the development and sustainability of tourism. The visit was also prompted by February 19 – Sarajevo Museum Day.
"Museums are guardians of the identity and authenticity of a place, as well as strong drivers of sustainable tourism. Our goal is to further strengthen cooperation between cultural institutions and the tourism sector in order to jointly support and promote programs and initiatives that will attract visitors while preserving valuable heritage. This year, we will again have public calls for tourism development in which culture and heritage will be recognized, so I expect quality projects and the continuation of successful cooperation," said Minister Pozder.
Activities from the previous period were reviewed, and guidelines for enhancing cooperation between cultural institutions and the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism were highlighted. A successful example of cooperation from the past year is the joint project realized in partnership with the Sarajevo Navigator Foundation – "Sevdah Damir Imamović in Svrzo's House."
Director Kučuk Sorguč emphasized the importance of the continuous programmatic development of the Museum, noting that the institution celebrates 77 years of existence. Over the past year, as many as 90 different events were organized, including concerts, book promotions, workshops, performances, and publishing and editorial activities. Of particular note is the event "Summer in the Museum of Sarajevo 2025", organized in partnership with various organizations. It promotes both tangible and intangible heritage and attracts locals, tourists, and visitors to Sarajevo. Throughout the year, the museum hosts programs on 260 days, representing a significant cultural and tourism contribution to the city.
Both parties agreed that strengthening cooperation between the cultural and tourism sectors is essential for the sustainable development of the destination, and that museums represent an important resource in promoting the cultural identity and tourism offerings of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the country as a whole.
