Abstract
The occupation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1878 was the most important event in the country's history in the 19th century. After 400 years of Ottoman rute (1463-1878), the country became part of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, which had far-reaching consequences for its future development. To the existing oriental Islamic culture was added a new dimension, creating the basis for the formation of a new k.ind of society.
