Despić House, built and lived in by the wealthy Sarajevo merchant Makso Despić and his family, represents an authentic picture of life in the 18th and 19th centuries. The first theatre performances in Sarajevo were held in the reception room of Despić House, which is why this building is considered a forerunner of modern theatre in the city.
Tomorrow, January 7, symbolically on Orthodox Christmas, this annex of the Sarajevo Museum — a beautiful blend of Oriental and Austro-Hungarian culture — will shine in a special festive setting.
