  • Opening of the Memorial Room of Vejsil Ćurčić and the Exhibition of His Archaeological Photo Traces

We are about to embark on an exceptional research and presentation endeavor that will shed light on the life and work of the researcher and inventor, the first formally trained Bosnian archaeologist, Vejsil Ćurčić. On April 3, 2026, the Museum of Sarajevo will open the permanent exhibition “Memorial Room of Vejsil Ćurčić” at Brusa Bezistan, along with an exhibition titled “Archaeological Photo Traces of Vejsil Ćurčić.” This will be a tribute to one of the leading figures of local archaeology, whose contributions were crucial to the preservation and protection of our cultural and historical heritage.

Thanks to the collaboration with Prof. Dr. Adnan Kaljanac, the heirs of Vejsil Ćurčić, the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo, Sarajevo will finally pay tribute to its distinguished citizen - an honor long overdue.
