Thanks to our Bosnian in the Czech Republic, Dr. Hasan Zahirović, the Museum of Sarajevo has been enriched with yet another valuable collection. It consists of 370 photographic slides taken by Czech journalist Jaroslava Světlíková during the 14th Winter Olympic Games held in Sarajevo in 1984.
Now 85 years old, she has, with great pleasure and a special affection for Sarajevo—cherishing fond memories of that period of her life—donated these authentic slides to our Museum so that they may be digitized and preserved as part of our finest heritage.
There are no words sufficient to express our gratitude to the author of these original photographs, as the Museum of Sarajevo does not possess a single original and authorized photograph from the period of the Sarajevo Olympics.
We are also deeply grateful to Hasan Zahirović, who was the main initiator in bringing these photographs to the Museum, where they have now become part of our collection.
