On the occasion of April 15 – the Day of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Sarajevo Museum and the Association of Women Members of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina will organize the exhibition “Heroines of the Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina” on Wednesday, April 15 at 2 p.m.
The opening of the exhibition will be addressed by the President of the Association, Meldijana Arnaut Haseljić, and the Director of the Museum, Indira Kučuk-Sorguč.
The exhibition “Heroines of the Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina” will provide the wider public with documentary insight into the significance, role, and immeasurable contribution of the women of Bosnia and Herzegovina who, side by side with the brave soldiers of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, defended our only homeland during the most difficult period of aggression from 1992 to 1995. Along that path, many of them wove their young lives into the very foundations of the state; many were wounded, some lost parts of their bodies, and many still suffer from long-term health consequences of the war. Despite this, very little is known or spoken about them, and they have been unjustly neglected in relation to the immense contribution they made to the freedom we enjoy today.
With this exhibition, we aim to restore their dignity and pay tribute and respect to them on the Day of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, of which they were proud and courageous members.
