Visit - Antonio Luis Santos da Costa

Today, the Museum of Sarajevo had the honour of welcoming a distinguished guest to our country, the President of the European Council, Mr. António Luís Santos da Costa. After meeting with the domestic political leadership to discuss Bosnia and Herzegovina’s path toward the European Union, Mr. Costa expressed his wish to visit the Museum Sarajevo 1878–1918 and learn more about an important period in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as world history.

Museum advisor Mirsad Avdić guided Mr. Costa through the historical period from the occupation of Bosnia and Herzegovina by the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy to its departure from that framework and entry into the state system of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes.

During his conversation with the Director of the Museum of Sarajevo, Indira Kučuk-Sorguč, who presented him with the Museum’s monograph as a gift, emphasizing that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s heritage has always been both European and global, the distinguished guest noted that Europe and Bosnia and Herzegovina share the same values. He also added that the Museum is exceptionally beautiful and fascinating, and that within a relatively small space it offers a remarkable wealth of history.
