On 1 September 2026, the Museum of Sarajevo and the Museum of Islamic Culture and Art of Sarajevo signed a Cooperation Agreement. The Director of the Museum of Sarajevo, Indira Kučuk-Sorguč, stated that the opening of the Museum of Islamic Culture and Art marks a significant cultural milestone for Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as an event of profound symbolic and spiritual importance.
The Museum of Sarajevo participated in the establishment of the new museum by providing exhibits, professional support, and expert guidance, as well as by acting as the principal museum institution of Sarajevo Canton throughout the registration process.
The Director emphasized that the Museum of Sarajevo will continue to support the future museum and educational activities of the Museum of Islamic Culture and Art through its professional expertise and material resources.
