The Museum of Sarajevo was visited by the President of the Jewish Municipality of Sarajevo, Rahela Džidić, and the President of the Jewish Cultural-Educational and Humanitarian Society La Benevolencija, Vladimir Andrle, where they discussed the improvement of cooperation and joint projects with the Director of the Museum of Sarajevo, Indira Kučuk-Sorguč.

During an exceptionally cordial and constructive meeting, topics discussed included the protection and preservation of museum artifacts and Jewish cultural-historical heritage, as well as concrete projects through which these three institutions would further promote the culture, tradition, and history of Jews in Sarajevo. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of the Museum of the Jews of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a branch of the Museum of Sarajevo, as one of the key guardians of more than four centuries of rich Jewish heritage in Sarajevo.

The participants identified numerous opportunities for enhancing cooperation through joint exhibitions, concerts, presentations of forgotten customs and culinary culture, reconstructions of the everyday life of Jews in multicultural Sarajevo, as well as support in organizing archival materials and museum documentation.

It was agreed to proceed with the recreation and expansion of the permanent exhibition of the Museum of the Jews of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and for the Museum of Sarajevo to actively participate in marking the major anniversary – 135 years of La Benevolencija’s work.
