With great joy and special respect for the late academician Dževad Karahasan, we welcome his new book entitled Narrating the City – Sarajevo, a City Created for Storytelling, published by SPKD Prosvjeta in Sarajevo.
The editor and reviewer is Dragana Tomašević, while Dejan Garić serves as publisher and reviewer on behalf of Prosvjeta.
Illustrations from the Art Collection of the Museum of Sarajevo complement and visually enrich the text, along with illustrations from the Art Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We highlight an excerpt from the text, Karahasan’s view of storytelling Sarajevo: “And Sarajevo is, perhaps precisely because of its polyphony, an essential metaphor of the world — a form in which the world reveals its true nature, usually hidden from the human gaze.”
We congratulate SPKD Prosvjeta on the publication of this work and on preserving the memory of the life and oeuvre — and above all the ‘word’ — of the great Karahasan.
